Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) is an annual event jointly organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to mark the contribution of overseas Indian community in the development of India. PBD is celebrated on the occasion of the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915. First held in the year 2003, PBD conventions have seen increasing number of participants every year.
The annual convent is held 7–9 January every year in an Indian city, where a forum for issues concerning the Indian Diaspora is organized and distinguished PIOs/NRIs are honored with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for their remarkable achievements.
Jaipur is playing host to the 10th PBD to be held from 7th to 9th January 2012 at the Birla Auditorium . For more information, please visit the official site of PBD: www.pbdindia.org
